Using FOM
Learn how to register, request access, schedule time, and log instrument usage. Follow these steps to effectively use FOM, from account setup to completing your instrument sessions.
User Registration and Login
- Internal (OSU) users will log in to FOM with their Ohio State name.# credentials and select "Click here to continue" on the welcome page. They will then fill out the profile information, including department and supervisor. A valid requisition must be added to their account.
- External (non-OSU) users will fill out this survey to obtain their sponsored guest account. The FOM profile will then be created by CCIC staff. Once notified, they will log in to FOM with their sponsored guest account (name.# credentials)

Requesting Instrument Access
- Click on desired instrument name in Available Instruments list
- Read and agree to user policy if prompted
- Enter preferred training times in the request form
- Wait for approval and training before scheduling
- Minimum reservation is 30 minutes, with 24-hour notice required for cancellations.
Scheduling Instrument Time (Reservations)
- Click instrument name from Authorized Instruments list to view calendar
- Click desired start time and select duration to make reservation
- Minimum reservation is 30 minutes, with 24-hour notice required for cancellations.
- To cancel/modify: Click on your reserved time slot (shown in yellow)
- 24-hour notice required for cancellations
- To start session: Click current time slot when ready to begin
- Status shows as "Being used" during active sessions
Logging Off
- Must log off after completing work
- Click your active time slot (shown in red)
- Enter any consumables used
- Report any issues by selecting "Something wrong"
- Select account number and click logoff
